I went to see this afternoon's matinee, and it was fantastic. I haven't enjoyed a show like this in years. The cast and music were tremendous, and kept me (and the rest of the audience, I'm sure) spellbound from beginning to end. - P Brook

saw the show last night mmy wife and sister going for the second time, brilliant i knew carlys voice was good from seeing her in Whistle down the wind but her acting and comedy face were joyous .Wish i could have joined in with the getting married in the morning dance so infectious was it, Mr doolittle superb as was Dominic West good voice too.The elderly couple behind us were hooting with laughter at even the most famous lines like they had never heard them before such was the feelgood factor in the audience, great night. - Steve Copley

This was a fantastic production which kept everyone enthralled throughout the performance. Eliza was brilliant, as were her dad, the professor and his mother, who was very amusing! Excellent entertainment! - Jenny Powell

Absolutely tremendous. It was fabulous to be able to see such a well produced and well performed play in Sheffield rather than having to trail to London. Dominic West absolutely nailed Prof Higgins and really drew the audience, his lines sometimes receiving audible gasps of indignation so enthralled were we all. Carly Bawden was delightful in every scene. It was great to be entertained for nearly three hours in a packed house with age a huge range of age groups. Thank you to all concerned, you got the year off to a great start - Louise Hobson

Daniel Evans has again brought West End (arguably even better than West End) quality to the Crucible. Sheffield audiences don't give out standing ovations lightly; this show appears to be getting them night after night, and certainly on the night we went the whole audience was on its feet. Carly Bawden is a far more convincing Eliza than Audrey Hepburn ever was, and the choreography, design, sound and lighting all give the production the level of polish we have come to expect as the norm in Sheffield productions. But if you want to see it and haven't booked already - sorry, but it's a complete sell-out to the end of the run! - Jane Ide

When comparing Carley Bawden's performance with Audrey Hepburn's, you need to remember that the latter was performing in a film, not exposed on stage in front of a live audience. Secondly, she didn't sing: her songs were dubbed by Marni Nixon. - P Ward
