starstarstarThe score is gorgeous and it’s played and sung so well in production that is so beautiful. Well worth it, especially the final 10 minutes of choral writing - Reich08 Nov 12
starstarstarstarGiven the nature of this opera, it is difficult to imagine how else it could have been presented. To call the production static when the work itself is static is redundant and one could say the same of Wagner's 'Tristan und Isolde'. The glory of the piece lies in the music and the stage pictures Oida creates complement and add meaning to it. The opera is about redemption and replacing the heavenly city with an electric chair brought this theme to the fore. Who needs redemption, and the idea of eventually attaining perfect goodness and peace, more than a man condemned to die? - Tony Axe06 Nov 12
starstarstarstarstarI thought this was one of the best things I had seen in the opera house for years. - Keith06 Nov 12
starstarstarstarstarDon’t miss this rare chance to see a masterpiece. Its time has come. - Tony Burton-Page06 Nov 12
