starstarstarstarA brother and sister who haven't spoken to each other for fourteen years? I don't think so, much too grim, was my first reaction. When I saw it, however, I got a pleasant surprise. David Harrower has produced a fine piece of writing, presenting two well-drawn characters who in interweaving monologues explain what happened, what they did, and why. A feature of the story is the Glasgow Airport bombing of 2005 whose perpetrators lived close by, lest anyone fear a too-inward-looking piece. The surrounding society and local acquaintances while never appearing on stage, still help populate what we are hearing from brother Athol and sister Morna. The simple set goes through subtle changes of light and colour that present two clear-spoken actors to such good effect. - El Peter26 May 12
