starstarstarI was feeling rather off colour before I saw OMTG but all that hilarity cured me! Sitting next to me was a gloomy Russian gentleman who could not understand why we English were "dumbing down" by turning a classic 18th centiry Italian comnedy into a food fight! But he stayed in his seat after the interval & by the end of the show he was laughing too! - Steve Kirby02 May 13
starstarstarstarstarReading the reviews to date, there are either vastly different standards of performance show to show, or audience members with markedly differing senses of humour. We loved everything about this production, as did the rest of the theatre it seemed. To explain to anyone else the story-line or why it was funny is impossible. Just go along, throw away your inhibitions and have a memorable experience. - Steve07 Oct 12
starJust don't understand the rave reviews for this terrible show. Could have, for the first time in my life, left at the interval. Decided to stay to see if it got any better - it didn't. Agree with previous posters that the 'plants' are sheer embarrassment and the phoney 'spontanious' gaity made me cringe. All in all a waste of time and money - we wished that we had done something else with our Saturday evening. - Owen16 Sep 12
starOver hyped nonsense. We paid top dollar for tickets but felt very short changed. The story line is tedious and the audience plants were embarrassing. Wish I'd gone somewhere else instead. - M. Harrison04 Sep 12
starstarstarstarIt is rare that an understudy takes over the lead role on a permanent basis, but it is clear to see why here- brilliant performance. If you have a sense of humour you cannot fail to enjoy this good old fashioned play/romp. I went with a friend who I have known for nearly 15 years and I have never seem him laugh so much. - trishajs04 Jul 12
starstarstarstarOne Man, Two Guvnors is a brilliant, original play with a tonne of laughs and clever audience participation. This is great fun and you quickly see why the original cast are now playing on Broadway to rave reviews. It also rightly received many nominations and awards both in London and New York. One not to be missed. - Andy Hannath04 Jul 12
starTired, laboured, wooden. At one point Francis says to an 'audience member' (with a supposed ad lib) that this isn't panto y'know. But panto is exactly what it is. Clearly the production now is nothing to what it must have been originally. We stayed for the whole thing but in fact the first half is by far the best. The second half is just exposition of the (tedious) plot delivered with false gaity and more wooden acting. Don't think I"ve ever been so disappointed by a production. - Geraldine30 Jun 12
starWow, just wow. That's the first time I have ever left a performance in the interval. If you want a smart, witty and intelligent comedy then this "play" isn't for you. If however, you wish to go see a pantomime production, including plants in the audience getting sprayed with foam, a doddery old man gag (used several times) and a woman dressed as a man and a hundred and one other clichés, then I suggest you see this pantomime. It was slap stick reminiscent of Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayal of Young Ones / Bottom fame, except with one difference. Young Ones and Bottom were actually funny. Save your money and go to a Christmas Panto instead. The quality of acting and the humour will be on the same level and at least your children will enjoy the Panto. - Jonathan Finch24 May 12
