I'll be honest, I booked to see this show initially for the guest star of the night, David Tennant, and yes he was brilliant - his 'Whoo do you love?!!' a la Richard Burton will make me laugh for a long time - But I came away singing the praises of the rest of the cast and recommending it to anyone who would listen.
It's such a simple premise that you do wonder it's not really been done before. A group of talented actors/comedians get together and read out some of the more 'choice' parts of celebrities gifts to literature. Your mind boggles how some of these books got past an editor, let alone got published. From the total banality of Britney's Crossroads Diary to the soap-opera of Elizabeth Taylor's life it was excellently performed by all and totally hysterical. I can't remember the last time I'd laughed so much and from the sound of the audience they all loved it too.
It's still on in London, limited to once a month I think - catch it if you can, you won't regret it. - Jules
