Paul Kerryson is a terrific director and he doesn't disappoint with this production. The staging is imaginative with a mirrored wall, reminiscent of A Linea Chorus Line, and with great cossies too. However he is sadly let down by a patchy company. Tim Flavin didn't find the monster in the character of the last chance director, Julian Marsh, whose choice of leading lady, Kathryn Evans, is determined by the $100,000 her love struck beau is prepared to put into his show "Pretty Lady". Some of the dance numbers were so shaky it made me wince, particularly when the couple doing the number on the bed lost it and she fell off! OK, it's Chichester, but is that really an excuse for that standard? There seems to be a general acceptance in this country that "it will do" - when I think of the brilliance and sharpness of the gypsies on Broadway and how every single goddamn one of them gives the performance of their lives, 8 shows a week! It makes me wonder what our stage schools are doing? Sharpen up the act and this show could be destined for the West End - Paul Kerryson deserves it. - rds

Kathryn Evans can do no wrong for me, she gives a perfect performance every time I see her and so she does again here (would love to see her play Margot Channing in the musical "Applause").Louise Plowwright too had a great sense of comedy timing here and was as a joy to watch.Tim Flavin was for me just right for the part and the staging and choreography great, not an arm or foot out of place from this great ensemble cast. This fresh new production is a super evening out to forget your worries and cares. Well done everyone concerned!. - Robin Tiley

Saw this on Saturday and it was just glorious. This and love story deserve a transfer, saddens me when so much garbage on in london and key stand out productions like these don't move. Kathryn was on sparkling form and I'd agree that whilst Tim Flavin was good he wasn't hard enough in the role. Lauren Hall was incredible and the chorus outstanding. Chichester never fails! - Colin McIntosh

feTotally disagree with you about Tim Flavin as Julian Marsh. Thought he was strong in the role, and so do other Newspapers reviewers. Takle a second look.!!!! - S.Welch
