starstarstarstarstaras we near 2013! I'd love to hear any comments on how well this show did, audiences? The half-full show was maybe a matinee? - Stevie27 Dec 12

starstarstarI had the good fortune to see this show in NYC back in 2005 - twice! It was a stunning and as stylish a piece of musical theatre as you could get and the Curve, under Paul Kerryson's commanding direction, has certainly done it justice. I would hope it gets a transfer it really does deserve it. The cast are uniformly excellent and so I won't pick anyone out particularly - they are a terrific ensemble. Congratulations then to Paul for being so ambitious with his opening musical. Now to the theatre? It is undoubtedly a stunning looking building and must have cost a fortune, but it appears to be fundamentally flawed in the foyer department. A small cafe greets one upon entering the building, but that seems about it. There is a rather dingy bar area, opposite the loos along one side of the curved corridor that surrounds the two theatres - hence the name I suppose, but that's about it. There are places to sit along this corridor, but who wants to sit looking at a grey wall? Somehow the architects have forgotten about pre and post show activities which any art centre ought to provide. Instead of an inviting meeting place with shops, better eating and bar facilities and an open area to sit they have left the public to cling to the outer edge of and made the focal point the bleakest outlook I suspect of any arts venue in the country - Orton Square! One hopes it will be refurbished at some stage, but WHEN?! - rds21 May 09
starstarstarstarSaw this today but Lucy Schaefer was off as they said she took "seriously ill" after last nights show and now had no voice. We had Jasna Iver instead with book in hand playing Margaret and given the notice, she was very good. Shame it was half full and many saying too ambitious for Leicester but I don't agree as why should great theatre only be for London etc. We travelled for it and it was great. - COLIN MCINTOSH16 May 09
starstarstarstarstarA refreshingly moving Musical with excellent cast. I would go and see it again and again - Steve Williams12 May 09
starstarstarDespite the story, I found the show strangely unemotional. I could not connect to the characters. I think perhaps as its a stylistic rather than realistic production. I do agree though that the actors were very good singers. Interesting but not engaging overall. - Alison10 May 09
