starstarstarBoys in their pants,so what. The best bit was when one licked food off the other and an audience member threw up. I think they used to call it a happening in the 60s - coral19 Mar 09
starstarstarstarstarA truly great piece of theatre, brilliantly acted by the Treadaway brothers. Am so glad I got the chance to see it. - Jen17 Mar 09
starstarstarIt's a terrific idea - German re-unification told through twins brought up on either side of the wall - and it gets off to a great start. The trouble is it runs out of steam ever so quickly and smothers the idea with 'look at me' excess that takes it nowhere. The twins are terrific, though, and it often feels spooky and uncomfortable, but in the end proves a worthy failure. - Gareth James17 Mar 09
starstarstarstarstarOriginal and challenging and perhaps that is why one national newspaper gave it only one star. This was a terrific piece of theatre and just what the reputation of the Royal Court has been built on. It has tremendous pace - two plus hour play condensed by its rapid fire delivery into just over one hour. Now I'm no spring chicken, more an old rooster I guess, but I was thrilled by it. Imaginatively written and staged it is a worthy new work to grace the RC stage. I had the misfortune to sit through Howard Barker's travesty of a play, Victory, at the Arcola last Friday and tonight I had the pleasure of experiencing this brilliant two hander as compensation, that's what keeps me going to the theatre again and again - the hope that one will strike gold - and tonight I did. 10/10. - rds16 Mar 09
starstarstarstarRavenhill's device of using separated twins to illustrate the East/West divide is simple but exceptionally effective and, ultimately, very moving. The power of the play is increased significantly by the fact that the actors are real-life twins who are very good indeed and so often appear to be two halves of a whole. Terrific. It has to be seen. - fred13 Mar 09
starstarstarstarstarThe world has gone mad when 'Over There' receives less stars than 'Plague over England'. There is no comparison. I found it and the brothers and the direction exhilarating and sublime. I will allow Michael his caveats but nevertheless this is in a different class. - Rufus09 Mar 09
starstarThere are a couple of intriguing moments but mostly the play is trying very hard to be metaphorical and inventive, and ending up, over and over, as lumberingly literal and narratively flat. The attention-grabbing production with its irritating let's-use-what's here devices and deliberate draining of emotion only makes the play more of an ordeal. An hour long, and it feels like two. Not quite as bad as 'The Cut', but up there. Perhaps some day Mr Ravenhill will give up trying tepid imitations of Caryl Churchill or Botho Strauss and go back to the hyper-realist comedy he does so well.. - betsy09 Mar 09
starstarstarstarstarSaw the preview last night. Blimey! Fantastic stuff from the Tredway brothers. Brilliant and bonkers all rolled into one. (Note to Trevor Nunn - go and see how interesting a show can be despite it being just over an hour). Must see. Lots of mess. Lots of nudity. Lots of fun. Well done boys. - James05 Mar 09
