starstarstarstarstarThis is London, and it is free!!! Theatre all around us!! The Scoop is an amazing summer experience, even if the rain comes down!!! Such a good vibe… Right from the beginning, this adaptation of Blood Wedding captures your attention and keeps you focused on the story. With an extremely minimalistic back drop and very few props your imagination is focused on the actors and their costumes. The ladies in black instantly remind you of death and the very Catholic, Church like ways of Old Spanish traditions. The Moon scene in particular is very gripping, with an air of spookiness and the hint of inevitable death surrounding the families. With the actors coming into the audience it gives you the feeling of participation and closeness to what is going on. The actors played their parts very well, and even if you have never heard of Blood Wedding before, watching this performance gives you the full experience. This is a dark play, which drums home the fact, that with out love, relationships and partnerships are doomed to failure and emptiness. But with True Love, it can cross many divides, including death!!! Constant reminders of this are shown in the scenes with the dead husband and beloved son. Knives all around us… talk of the street and now talk of the Scoop, but for a change hitting home the pain they bring to those left behind. Well worth a trip to the Scoop, with your picnic basket and all your mates… - Paul Marais06 Aug 08
starstarstarstarstarThis is whay I love London Theatre. No where else do you get to see something as amazing as this for free. Gripping from start to finnish, beautifully acted, a real sense of Spain (Love the music and dancing) and the echoes with our own kinife culture made me shiver -does nothing ever change? - Toni Bridmore06 Aug 08
