starstarstarWhat a wonderful piece of theatre. It still had the same impact on me the second time around as i was lucky enough to see it in Glasgow last year. Acting uniformly brilliant and yes as one becomes immersed in the play you forget that they are actors on stage and not 'real' soldiers. Deserves a longer run for all those unlucky enough to miss it as the returns queue was pretty long. - Alex G22 Jul 08

starstarstarstarstarI've wanted to see this again since it thrilled me in Edinburgh in 2006 and two years has, if anything, made it even more powerful. The theatricality of it is spell-binding and includes some truly innovative staging (telling the history of the regiment by choreographed costume changes is just one). The performances are passionate, as befits the subject matter. At the end I was exhausted, moved to tears but exhilarated all at the same time! A highlight in a lifetime of theatre-going and a towering achievement for the National Theatre of Scotland. - Gareth James22 Jul 08
starstarstarstarstarQuite simply the best thing I have ever seen. I still feel moved to tears by it almost 24 hours later. The only time I have ever given anything a standing ovation without waiting for the rest of the audience to stand up first. I know the Barbican run is sold out but if you can get hold of a ticket, I strongly urge you to do so. - Charlotte09 Jul 08
starstarstarstarstarThrilling, funny, moving, astonishing. Anyone who thinks theatre isn't relevant in the media-soaked 21st Century should see this. - addicted to theatre29 Jun 08
starstarstarstarstarOne of the best things I have ever seen - all the cast are phenomenal-you cannot believe they are actors not soldiers - Burton29 Jun 08
starstarstarstarstarI saw this at Edinburgh in 2006. It is a stunning production which deserves all the plaudits it has received. The writing, acting and directing are incredibly impressive and the enormous impact of the piece remains with me two years later. Unforgettable. - fred25 Jun 08
