starstarstarstarstarI really enjoyed this play. Its amazing that just three actors on one set can entertain an audiance of people and have them laughing throughout for a couple of hours. Freddie and Chris were brilliant and they really make you believe that they are there characters. Excellant! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (217.207.222.236)26 Feb 03
starI saw This Is Our Youth last night and did something for the first time: left at the interval. What a sad day for me, there was no ‘stage’ talent at the Garrick last night, this pedestrian play has turned into a grotesque and bad, bad joke. To sit in that beautiful theatre to hear girls screaming at the male actors and oooooohhhhhhhhing at a kiss was not acceptable, to be treated to people crunching and rustling crisp packets was too much - USER: Whatsonstage.com (80.193.222.20)11 Feb 03
starstarstarstarstarKlein is brilliant, strong, arrogant and completely self obsessed, a brilliantly controlled performance made you really hate his character. Great monologue aswell. Prinze jr. brought across all the mixed up emotions of Warren with real heart, a real fulsome performance, and Burns played the neurotic Jessica with real character. They all played off each other brilliantly and the slick direction made for an excellent show. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (131.251.0.5)08 Feb 03
starWhat a terrible, shallow and badly written play. I left angry that yet again (after what the night is for)...that a good west end theatre was clogged up with a terrible play that would normally have never been stagted in the west end if it wasnt for the presence of a 'celebrity' in the cast.... how long is this trend going to continue? To my surprise (not) the audience was full of teeneage american students squealing at the presence of freddie prince jr et al.....seemingly not noticing that they were watching a terrible play...but hey, i guess thats not why they are there. Thank god its coming off. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (80.193.222.20)05 Feb 03
starstarstarGood performances from the trio - is it their stage debut? - especially Freddie Prinze Jnr, as Warren. Can't help thinking that Warren is the best of all the roles and would have loved to see Jake Gyllenhaal, given the praise he received at the time. The audience was very appreciative - but I can't understand why the idiots around me don't turn off their mobiles when they're reminded, or those who tuck into crisps and sweets as soon as the lights go down. What is this? A communal living room? No, it's live theatre, so sod off home if you want to eat, talk or text your mates. I want to watch the show. starstarstarstarAt last Laurence Boswell has got it right! Definitely the best cast (of the 3) as a group, and the play has never seemed so solid or beautiful. None of the performances stand out as such, the way Gyllenhaal did, but it all works so well now. Go! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (213.122.163.1)30 Nov 02
starstarstarstarI saw this show with it's first cast (Gyllenhaal, Christensen and Paquin) and loved it! Jake Gyllenhaal's Warren was amazing, but I doubt that will EVER be matched, especially if this site's review of the most recent cast is anything to go by! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (81.98.83.9)29 Nov 02
starstarstarI quite enjoyed this one ... it was actually quite funny (was expecting it to be a serious one ...) - USER: Whatsonstage.com (62.49.186.66)22 Nov 02
