starstarstarstarstarAbsolutely spellbounding, amazing, enthralling, it is the best musical I have ever seen. It was so cleverly done. It was brilliant. I loved every minute of it I didn't want it to end. The scenery worked well and the cast were superb - USER: Whatsonstage.com06 Dec 01
starstarstarstarstarI have just seen this smashing musical in Manchester. It had the audience begging for more. Less is more here. No flashy musical gimmicks are required as the audience are taken on an emotional journey where all you need is love as opposed to money. Viv Nicholson wins the pools and her life changes. But as we watch Viv Spend, Spend, Spend- her life starts to fall apart. This is one of the best musicals to come out of the West End in years. If you want to see something that reminds you of Blood Brothers- with grit, tears and laughter then this is for you! - USER: Whatsonstage.com03 Dec 01
starstarstarstarstarI may be biased, as Rachel Leskovac (Young Viv) is my daughter, but I agree wholeheartedly with the previously submitted reviews. Having seen the show in London and on tour in various locations, it is most certainly one not to be missed. The whole cast give the audience a real sense of enjoyment and together with the costumes and backdrop accurately reflect those days of old.T he fact that the story is a true one just adds to the entertainment, especially if you come from the North! If you've not seen it yet, be quick as the provincial tour ends in December. - USER: Whatsonstage.com14 Oct 01
starstarstarstarstarThis show is one of my favourites that I have seen in many years. The subject I have loved for many years and has always cried out to be a musical hit. I traveled from Nottingham to Bristol for my first encounter with this great show and fell in love with it immediatly and last week went to Coventry Belgrade theatre to see another great Performance by a great Talented cast. Friends we have takeen to see it also loved it equally . The Music is great and a writer friend of mine picked up on how well the show is written and structured and as she is a great playwrite herself , I trust her judgment and agree whole heartedly. This show never should have been pushed out of the West End , but I am happy that the rest of the country have a chance for it to visit their city's. I hope like the early tour of Blood Brothers it builds and builds its quality reputation and heads back into the West End For a good 12 year run like the other 'Kitchen Sink' drama / musical. SEE IT ! If in any doubt of the music being memorabl buy the cd and I guarantee that you will be playing it over and over again.... - USER: Whatsonstage.com26 Sep 01
starstarstarstarstarThis musical was sadly closed and was taken off the West End circuit last Summer. It is now on a tour. If you liked Blood Brothers - you will love Spend. Barbara Dickson is amazing as Viv Nicholson- the pools winner who seemed to have it all, only to lose it again ...and more. Ok, so some of the lyrics seem a bit clumsy but with a cast so enthusiastic and with fantastic vocal ranges - who cares. This is a totally original musical which I think is well suited to the regions rather than the West End. You will not see a show like this again- so please see it now! - USER: Whatsonstage.com08 Aug 01
