star0 because it was so bad. Can't call it music as there needs to be a string of notes put together to make tunes to achieve this. And as for the words I'm sure the bard would not be too happy to know this had played in his home town. Philip Quast is just good anyway and it was great to see Freddy 'Parrot' Davis; but these 2 stars can't be expected to a make a show from a load of rubbish! - USER: Whatsonstage.com28 Oct 01
starPerhaps we were unlucky. Philip Quast was "indisposed" but I can't see what everyone is raving about. Yes it's British - but so what? Could it be those magic letters RSC which everyone is rating? The songs were bland, the lyrics mediocre, the scenery drab - apart from the opening ten minutes! The cast did their best but the material they had to work with was rubbish. I agree that moments were unintentionally laughable but we managed to stifle them for the sake of the cast - others in the audience weren't quite so polite. Come on RSC you can do better! - USER: Whatsonstage.com02 Jun 01
starOh dear!! So bad it was funny - I laughed quite a lot. Total cheese - totally awful music: why bother making a MUSICAL if you can't even string together one memorable tune. Terribly old-fashioned dancing that was also not neccessary and out of place. Good performances all round, but a script that is very flimsy and not always clear. I really wanted to like this, but instead I found it laughably bad. Felt like leaving in the interval - what a waste of money! Anyone else agree with my views? - USER: Whatsonstage.com06 May 01
starstarstarstarI quite enjoyed this show - full of old fashioned charm and sentiment. The actors were good especially the kids. It could have done with some more decent songs, only a handful were memorable. A lovely sentimental and mushy ending too. - USER: Whatsonstage.com17 Apr 01
starstarstarstarstarPerfect! A real joy. I am a 23 year old who very much enjoys this show. Have seen it ten times in Stratford and twice in London. The show itself is good but with Philip Quast in the cast it becomes amazing. A must go see for everyone! - USER: Whatsonstage.com16 Apr 01
starstarstarstarstarCan't praise this show highly enough. The music is glorious, heart-rending and uplifting in turn. Superb performances from the whole cast, but special mention for the delightful child actors and the amazing Philip Quast. Also Freddie "Parrot Face" Davies - a complete revelation to me as the old gardener. This is a lovely show with something for all the family. Thoroughly recommended. - USER: Whatsonstage.com12 Apr 01
starstarstarstarstarAnyone still doubting that this is by far the best musical in London at the moment? Forget Box Office reports on the news! I fell asleep during "My Fair Lady"; I could NOT sleep after "Secret"! This show really grabs your soul! - USER: Whatsonstage.com12 Apr 01
starstarstarstarstarWhat an excellent show! Both music and cast are superb! Wait until you hear "Wick" for the first time. You will curse it after a week or so for still lingering on in your head! I read that the music of The Secret Garden is used to help people who are ill or handicapped. I can vividly imagine this! People who leave the Aldwych without a smile on their face and a warm feeling inside just don't have a heart! - USER: Whatsonstage.com12 Apr 01
starstarstarstarstarThe is a Secret which MUST be shared - tell all your friends!! Don't buy your kids a chocolate egg this Easter, take them to this show. Wonderful:-) - USER: Whatsonstage.com11 Apr 01
starstarstarstarstarWith a wonderful story, excellent lyrics and music and superb performances, the Secret Garden is not to be missed! - USER: Whatsonstage.com11 Apr 01
starstarI thought it was pretty boring myself and my son had trouble staying awake too so that's not just a jaded adult speaking. I'm glad to have slightly expanded choice for children's shows in the West End but really this isn't up to much. - USER: Whatsonstage.com06 Apr 01
starstarstarstarIf you are looking for a show to which you can take the whole family - this is it. The performance I was at had a LOT of children in the audience and they kept quiet all the way through! Excellent set design and staging, and knock-out performances from Philip Quast and Natalie Morgan as Mary. Only flaw is dances, which seem out of place and do rather drag. - USER: Whatsonstage.com10 Mar 01
starstarstarstarstarWent to Stratford with misgivings, but in a very short time I was completely hooked. Superb performances from Philip Quast as Archibald Craven and Meredith Braun as the ghost of his dead wife, Lily - Heart-breaking duet between them shortly before the end. Excellent performances from the children, Natalie Morgan and Luke Newberry. Don't miss it! - USER: Whatsonstage.com28 Feb 01
starstarstarstarstarI saw this magnificent production in Stratford.I thoroughly enjoyed the performances of a very talented cast, including the superb performance of Natalie Morgan in the demanding role of Mary Lennox. - USER: Whatsonstage.com27 Feb 01
