starstarstarstarI caught this production at the Bristol Hippodrome On Sats Matinee 27th April. After some pretty dismal recent tours here is a revelation. Brilliantly Directed, Choreographed, Sung and performed here is a show as slick as slick could be. This is what show business is all about . There is not a weak point anywhere in the production, ok the storyline is pretty stupid but forget that and just wallow in the performers on stage. It seems churlish to mention any one individual as all the performers acted as one, but Gary Wilmot's knack of sheer enjoyment on stage is infectious and how his voice in a rich Baritone has improved I have never heard him sing so well , Su Pollard gives her usual quirky Performance but sings with great power Ive always thought she has been underused on the Musical stage and here she proves it , Karen Evans as Mabel has a very sweet voice of considerable range and at times is very funny, and here is a revelation . Joshua Dallas playing Frederic who cuts a fine dash a fine light tenor voice wonderfully clipped dialogue and Im sure we will see much more of him in the future. All in all a wonderful evenings entertainment which will leave you coming out with a glow. ROBIN L TILEY. - USER: Whatsonstage.com28 Apr 02
