David Edgar & Gregory Doran during the Q&A

WOS Radio: Edgar, Doran & co speak from the Heart

Date: 9 May 2012

Last night (8 May 2012), our Whatsonstage.com theatregoers found themselved in the company of no less than the Archbishop of Canterbury as they attended the West End transfer of David Edgar's Written on the Heart.

Directed by RSC artistic director-in-waiting Gregory Doran (who, along with David Edgar and the cast joined our post-show Q&A), the play centres on centres on the creation of the King James Bible and was commissioned to mark last year’s 400th anniversary of its publication.

The cast, the majority of whom will took part in our post-show Q&A, includes: Oliver Ford Davies, Jamie Ballard, Bruce Alexander, Stephen Boxer, Paul Chahidi, James Hayes, Jim Hooper, Youssef Kerkour, Joseph Kloska, Sam Marks, Ian Midlane, Mark Quartley, Daniel Stewart, Simon Thorp, Annette McLaughlin and Jodie McNee.

Topics covered included the a discussion of the 'genesis' of the project, the in-depth research involved and even the rituals the cast go through before each performance.

To listen to the full unedited Q&A, which was hosted by Whatsonstage.com editor Theo Bosanquet, click the 'play' button above; or to subscribe and download from iTunes, click here. We also live-tweeted from the event last night. You can scroll through all of our  Written on the Heart Q&A tweets here.

As always, please feel free to email your comments and thoughts about the play, as well as any of your favourite insights from last night to feedback@whatsonstage.com and don't forget to tweet using #wosouting! We would love to hear from you.
