WOS Radio: Theatregoers Get Up Close to Ladykillers

Last night, 130 Whatsonstage.com theatregoers headed to the Gielgud Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue to see the premiere production of Graham Linehan's stage adaptation of Ealing comedy The Ladykillers, which opens to press next week (7 December).

Directed by Sean Foley, The Ladykillers features an all-star cast of James Fleet, Peter Capaldi, Ben Miller, Clive Rowe and Stephen Wight. Unwitting widow Mrs Wilberforce - who finds herself embroiled with an unlikely group of criminals planning the heist of a security van - is played by two-time Olivier Award-winning actress Marcia Warren.

After the performance, director Foley and Messrs Fleet, Rowe and Wight joined us for a lively Q&A, with Marcia Warren joining after about five minutes. Topics covered included the pressures of adapting such a well-loved film, the challenges and pleasures of working on Michael Taylor's elaborate set, and even a few secrets about the canary...
