WOS Radio: Gavin Creel Scales Walls in Poppins

WOS Radio: Gavin Creel Scales Walls in Poppins

Date: 12 September 2006

In our latest Whatsonstage.com Radio programme, Roger Foss flies up where the air is rare high above the chimney post of Cherry Tree Lane and lands backstage at the West End's Prince Edward Theatre to meet American actor Gavin Creel, who recently joined the cast of Mary Poppins to play Bert the cockney chimney sweep, the role originally created by Gavin Lee who will star in the Broadway production opening in October.

Creel, whose Broadway credits include starring in Thoroughly Modern Millie, talks about learning to speak cockney and working with Julie Andrews, the original Mary Poppins. He also plays a track from his new CD, Goodtimenation.
