Graeae and Theatre Royal Plymouth are co-producing the premiere of Jack Thorne's new play The Solid Life of Sugar Water.

Running in Plymouth from 8 to 13 June 2015 ahead of a transfer to the Edinburgh Fringe, the production will be directed by Graeae's Amit Sharma.

The Solid Life of Sugar Water follows the journey of a young couple, Phil and Alice, as they attempt to rediscover their relationship following a stillbirth. According to press material it's about "love, loss and the ways in which two people in a relationship deal with tragedy."

The role of Phil will be played by Arthur Hughes, while Alice will be played by The Silence star Genevieve Barr.

Graeae is an acclaimed theatre company that champions accessibility and provides a platform for deaf and disabled talent.

Thorne, whose previous plays include Let the Right One In and Mydidae, previously worked with Graeae on an adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

He said: "I'm so excited to be working with Graeae again, such an exciting company to work for and with – truly at the edge of what theatre does and constantly looking to expand the boundaries of it."
