1st Night Photos: Chekhov meets Downton at Uncle Vanya party

Date: 5 November 2012

Downton Abbey stars Joanne Froggatt, Amy Nuttall and Phyllis Logan came out to support their co-star Laura Carmichael as she made her West End debut on Friday in Chekhov's Uncle Vanya.

And Carmichael, who plays Sonya in the production, was in need of friends after having to endure some press night disturbance from none other than Sir Peter Hall during the play's climactic scene.

She's joined in the cast of Lindsay Posner's production, which continues at the Vaudeville until 16 February 2013, by Ken Stott, Anna Friel, Samuel West.

Other guests on opening night included Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones and actors Idris Elba and Friel's partner Rhys Ifans.
