Based on the stories of Christopher Isherwood and the play by John Van Druten, Cabaret has a book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. It premiered on Broadway in 1966 and in 1972 was made into an Oscar-winning film starring Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowles, Michael York as Cliff and Joel Grey as the Emcee.

Was very disappointed with this version of one of my favourite shows. The director had Will Young acting like a Cirque du Soleil Clown - way too much cheesy comedy and not enough of the dark undercurrent of 1930's Berlin. This show was a pale imitation of the one with Wayne Sleep a few years ago. However, good costumes and choreography. - Anita Benson

It is an amazing production. I saw it 5 or so years ago in London and had to see it again. I wasn't sure Will Young would pull it off as Emcee but it was an incredible performance. His finest moment into complete madness was completely chilling...you could hear a pin drop... - theatregirl

I loved this show, and particularly Will Young as he is brilliant as Emcee. He steals the show, l knew he could sing, but his acting is just fabulous. The whole cast are good and l just loved Sian Phillips. l saw Cabaret in Nottingham and have now booked for London, as l have to see this again. - heth

We loved the songs and Will was surprisingly great, funny and sensitive to the part. It's a classic story and so much better than spending the evening watching rubbish like X Factor on TV. Parents should know that there is (brief) total nudity in this (including Will!) - lucyhubbard

Will Young is a star. This is the best music theatre I have seen in years; real energy, talent and 100% entertainment! - jimdixon

This is a wonderful show which I saw in Southampton. All the cast are good but Will Young gives the most animated performance of Emcee I have ever seen. I have booked to see it again at the Savoy and would encourage everyone to see it. It is entertaining, fun, and very moving. - Gill
