Show Pics: Curve revives Gypsy starring O'Connor & Hamilton-Barritt

Date: 16 March 2012

Production photos have been released of Paul Kerryson's rare professional revival of the 1959 Broadway musical Gypsy. The production at Leicester's Curve Theatre stars Caroline O'Connor in the iconic role of Mama Rose.

O'Connor is joined in the cast by Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Daisy Maywood, David Fleeshman, Lucinda Shaw, Jane Fowler, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Jason Winter, Stuart Ramsay, Matt Gillett, Matthew Caputo, Ryan Gover, Hannah Everest, Lulu Mae Pears and Olivia Price in addition to two teams of local children.

Jule Styne, Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents' 1959 musical is inspired by the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee and charts the story of Mama Rose and her determination to live out her dreams of stardom through her two daughters.

Directed by Curve artistic director Paul Kerryson, the production reunites the creative team behind The King and I, which debuted at the Curve in 2010; choreographer David Needham; designer Sara Perks; lighting Philip Gladwell; sound Ben Harrison and musical director Michael Haslam.

The production, which opened last night (15 March 2012, previews from 10 March) continues its limited season at the Curve until 15 April 2012.
