Photos: Clarkson, Halliwell & Carr support Soho gala

Date: 9 March 2012

A veritable galaxy of stars came out in support of the Soho Theatre last night at the venue's fundraising gala (held at The Vinyl Factory) to raise money for its education and playwriting programmes.

Tim Minchin and Jimmy Carr, both Soho regulars, led the performance line-up. Minchin, of first playing at the theatre in 2006, said: “(The Soho) was absolutely pivotal in my decision to pursue a career in the UK. It’s a fantastic place with incredibly supportive and passionate staff who are dedicated to promoting new and innovative work. The Soho is so often ahead of the game and as such plays a vital role in the careers of so many performers. There is nowhere quite like it.”

Guests bid for prizes including dinner with AA Gill and Jeremy Clarkson and a walk on part in Les Miserables. Among those in attendance were Dougray Scott, Tim Rice, Geri Halliwell, Shappi Khorsandi, Sophia Myles, Katy Stephens, Nick Mason, Jack Whitehall and Soho artistic director Steve Marmion.
