Show Pics: Steve Pemberton & Katherine Kelly Conquer National

Date: 27 January 2012

The League of Gentlemen's Steve Pemberton, Coronation Street's Katherine Kelly and Oliver Award-winning actress Sophie Thompson star in the National Theatre's new revival of Oliver Goldsmith's classic 18th-century comedy of manners She Stoops To Conquer in the NT Olivier.

Currently in previews, Jamie Lloyd's production opens on 31 January 2012 (previews from 24 January) and has a cast which also includes David Fynn, Harry Hadden-Paton, John Heffernan and Cush Jumbo.

Goldsmith's 1773 play is a celebrated story of class, courtship and dysfunctional families. Tongue-tied, uptight Charles Marlow needs a lesson in the art of love. He longs for a wife, but finds it easier to have a bit on the side. Barmaid Kate seems fair game - but there's more to her than meets the eye.

The National Theatre have just released production photos of the cast, the first to take on the play at the National since Max Stafford-Clark's Out of Joint revival came to the NT Lyttleton in 2002.
