Photos: Old Vic Hosts Eighth Annual 24 Hour Gala

Date: 14 November 2011

The Old Vic played host to its annual 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala on Sunday (13 November 2011), which was hosted by comedian and actor Rob Brydon.

Among the actors taking part this year were: Jane Asher, Nancy Carroll, Lily Cole, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Brendan Coyle, Mackenzie Crook, Freddie Fox, Robert Glenister, Anthony Head, Ruthie Henshall, Mathew Horne, David Horovitch, Gina McKee, Sophia Myles, Katherine Parkinson, Julian Sands, Rachael Stirling and Indira Varma.

They worked frantically over the weekend to produce plays with the help of directors including Tom Cairns, Simon Godwin, Tamara Harvey and Charlie Westenra, and writers Amy Rosenthal, Jack Thorne and Roy Williams.

And for the first time in the history of the project one of the performances this year evolved into a musical, written by James Graham with composer Michael Bruce and starring Lily Cole alongside Ruthie Henshall.

The gala, now in its eighth year, is held in aid of The Old Vic Theatre Trust, a Charity set up to ensure the theatre's future as a producing house and to safeguard the heritage of the 193-year old building.

Afterwards, the stars headed for the now-legendary '25th hour' party for some well-earned refreshment courtesy of event sponsor Jack Daniels...
