1st Night Photos: Stars Rock Out at Rock of Ages Gala

Date: 29 September 2011

Glam rock jukebox musical Rock of Ages received its London premiere last night (27 September 2011, previews from 31 August) with a gala at the Shaftesbury Theatre ending a week of performances open to the press.

West End regulars Oliver Tompsett, Amy Pemberton and Simon Lipkin star alongside TV and radio presenter Justin Lee Collins and former X Factor winner Shayne Ward in the production.

Set in 1987 on the Sunset Strip and billed as an “arena-rock love story”, Rock of Ages centres on Drew, a busboy and aspiring rocker who chases his dreams to Los Angeles’ most famous rock club, where he meets a small-town girl newly arrived from Kansas, named Sherrie.

The Rock of Ages cast and crew were joined to celebrate their opening night gala by guests including Hayley Westenra, Gary Lloyd, David Bedella, Stephen Crockett, Stuart Piper, Brian Fortuna, Jemma Dallender, Simon Bailey, Katie Marson, Anna Williamson, Nadine Higgin, Heidi Carmichael, Brenda Edwards, Lucinda Shaw, Imogen Thomas, Tim Howar and Jon Rose.
