1st Night Photos: Mulligan Checks Out Almeida's CityDate: 16 September 2011My City, Stephen Poliakoff's first new play in 12 years, opened at the Almeida last night (15 September, previews from 8 September) where it runs until 5 November 2011. Billie Piper and Carey Mulligan were amongst guests at the show's press night. Other guests who joined the cast and crew to celebrate the opening included Tom Mison, Kieran Bew, Karen Lewis and Jenny Jules. The play, which Poliakoff also directs, sees Richard Kenton meet his headmistress from primary school, lying on a park bench. As he becomes reacquainted with her and the other teachers that helped shape him, memories of their vivid and imaginative lessons come to life and their tales of London inspire him once more. My City has a cast which includes Tracey Ullman, Sian Brooke, Sorcha Cusack, Tom Riley, Hannah Arterton and David Troughton.
