Photos: Les Mis Company of Companies for 25th Date: 4 October 2010
Les Miserables impresario Cameron Mackintosh had to do something to build on the success of the 10th Anniversary Concert performance, held at the Royal Albert Hall, where 17 Jean Valjeans from productions around the globe marched on stage to perform "Do You Hear The People Sing" in their native tongues.
Needless to say he succeeded; bringing together members of the original 1985 West End cast with the performers from the anniversary touring production which came home to the Barbican with members of the current West End cast, the performance by the "company of companies" included a spectacular rendition of "Bring Him Home" by original Jean Valjean Colm Wilkinson, the Queen's theatre's Simon Bowman, the Barbican's John Owen-Jones and the concert's own Alfie Boe.
In addition, the whole 1985 company joined together for a performance of "One Day More" with the original company members Michael Ball (Marius), Roger Allam (Javert), Frances Ruffelle (Eponine), Rebecca Caine (Cosette) and Alun Armstrong (Thenardier) showing theatregoers at The O2 and spectators in cinemas around the world exactly why this musical is 25 years young.
Our photographer was there to capture the magic of their massed curtain call and the post show reception in the Indigo2

Gareth Gates and Nick Jonas...can they really not find any proper actors for Marius? But regardless, this looked fantastic. I saw the tour in Norwich and it was unbelievable. - Kefka

Sue Jane Tanner is the original Madame T standing next to Alun Armstrong, thought it was rather rude that WOS couldn't even google her! And Jeff Nicholson was Javert for the London company, standing in between Killian Donnelly and Simon Bowman. - Sam

A brilliant night at the O2 for Les Mis---what a night and one never tires of hearing the wonderful music and songs of this great show. All the cast were brilliant and must say Alfie Boe's voice was something else. Also Matt Lucas and Jenny Galloway were superb and was wonderful to see Lea Salonga once again--why haven't they given her more stage roles to do??. On thing that was lacking at the O2 was security---there were thousands going through and not one bit of security check and considering the government have put us on Terrorist alert, this is not good enough!!!! Back to the night and the Concert--Brilliant!!! - Joe Spiteri
