1st Night Photos: Rylance Rides Bike to Bridge

Date: 24 June 2010

Anchors aweigh! Fittingly for a project that bridges the Atlantic Ocean (thus the name), the after-party for the London opening yesterday (23 June 2010, previews from 1 June) of Sam Mendes’ Bridge Project productions of As You Like It and The Tempest was held on a boat. And points to leading lady Juliet Rylance (step-daughter of Mark) who turned up on her bicycle wondering where to park it.

Now in its second year, the three-year Bridge Project is a collaboration between Mendes’ Neal Street Productions company, New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) and the Old Vic, where the two Shakespeare plays conclude their international tour, running in rep until 30 August. The Anglo-American company includes Stephen Dillane, Juliet Rylance, Ron Cephas Jones, Christian Camargo and Edward Bennett.
