1st Night Photos: Kath & Kim Star Holds Her ManDate: 5 May 2010Antipodeans were out in force last night (4 May 2010, previews from 23 April) for the UK premiere of Oz hit Holding the Man at the West End’s Trafalgar Studios 1. Tommy Murphy’s award-winning adaptation of the best-selling memoir by the late Australian actor, writer and activist Tim Conigrave tells the love story of Conigrave and John Caleo, from 1970s teenage romance to the Aids-ravaged 1980s and 90s. Australians Guy Edmonds and Matt Zeremes make their West End debuts reprising their starring roles in the UK production, which also features Kath & Kim’s Jane Turner – a friend of Conigrave and Caleo’s who wears a variety of fright wigs while playing some 15 characters, including several childhood friends – as well as Simon Burke, Oliver Farnworth and Anna Skellern. The play’s original director David Berthold helms the production, which is designed by Brian Thomson with lighting by James Whiteside, and presented by Daniel Sparrow and Mike Walsh Productions.
