1st Night Photos: Stars Welcome Enron to West End

Date: 27 January 2010

David Dimbleby, Johnny Vegas and a Monkee walk into a bar. No, it's not the beginning of a joke, but an accurate description of the opening night of Enron at the Noel Coward Theatre last night (See News, 21 Sep 2009), which attracted a veritable who's who of London entertainment.

Rupert Goold's production of Lucy Prebble's play, dealing with the collapse of the eponymous US energy company, premiered to critical acclaim at Chichester Festival last July (See Review Round-up, 23 Jul 2009), going on to enjoy a sell-out season at the Royal Court.

It transfers to the West End complete with its original cast of Samuel West as the corporation's president Jeffrey Skilling, Tim Pigott-Smith as chairman Ken Lay, Amanda Drew as a fictional executive and Tom Goodman-Hill as Fastow, a financial whizz-kid.
