1st Night Photos: La Clique & Arts Carol Get FestiveDate: 26 November 2009
Stars including singer Kate Nash and actress Sadie Frost were at the Roundhouse in Camden last night to celebrate the transfer of Olivier Award-winning burlesque show La Clique for a festive season.
La Clique, which has performed seasons around the world including Sydney, Melbourne, Dublin, New York and Edinburgh, made its London debut at the Hippodrome last year. It was forced to abandon the venue in June to make way for property developers United Leisure, who are converting the space into a new £15 million casino complex (See News, 14 Apr 2009).

The Roundhouse line-up features a mix of new and returning faces: comic magician Carl-Einar Häckner; opera-singing diva Le Gateau Chocolat; cabaret artist and clown Marawa Ibrahim; Freddie Mercury impersonator Mario - Queen of the Circus; “gargantuan” cabaret diva Meow Meow; striptease artist Ursula Martinez; and burlesque duo The Wau Wau Sisters.
La Clique continues to 17 January 2009.
Meanwhile, at the Arts Theatre, comedian Gareth Hale and the cast of A Christmas Carol were also in the Yuletide spirit as they celebrated the commencement of their Christmas run.
A Christmas Carol, which runs from 25 November (previews from 11 November), marks the first in what will be a five year initiative between Tiny Tim Productions and the venue, presenting Christmas entertainment for family audiences. As part of this year's show, the venue will transform its front of house area to create a “Victorian themed foyer offering Dickensian treats”.

Alongside Hale, the cast also features Simon Lipkin, Rebecca Thornhill and Michael Matus, as well as the voices of Matthew White as Charlie the Theatre Mouse and Sharon D Clarke as Bentolina the Theatre Cat. Writer/director Susie McKenna is well known for her award-winning Christmas productions previously staged at the Hackney Empire, where she is associate director.
