1st Night Photos: ENRON Goes Back to Court

Date: 23 September 2009

Actors including Mark Rylance, Harriet Walter, David Tennant, Richard Wilson and Matthew Kelly turned out at the Royal Court last night (22 September, previews from 17 September) to catch the opening night of Rupert Goold's acclaimed Headlong production of Lucy Prebble's ENRON.

The production, which received rave reviews when it premiered at Chichester's Minerva Theatre back in July (See Review Round-up, 23 Jul 2009), has already announced a West End transfer following its sold-out stint in the Court's Theatre Downstairs (See News,  21 Sep 2009).

Described as an "epic tragedy", ENRON is inspired by the real events surrounding the Texas-headquartered energy company that filed for bankruptcy in 2001. The cast is led by Samuel West as the corporation's president Jeffrey Skilling, alongside Tim Pigott-Smith as chairman Ken Lay, Amanda Drew as a fictional executive and Tom Goodman-Hill as Fastow, a financial whizz-kid.

It continues at the Royal Court until 7 November, before opening on 16 January 2010 at the Noel Coward Theatre, where it’s initially booking until 8 May 2010.
