1st Night Photos: Lenny Henry's Moor the Merrier

Date: 21 September 2009

Lenny Henry and his wife Dawn French were all smiles on Friday night (18 September, previews from 11 September) as they celebrated the opening of Othello at Trafalgar Studios (See News, 24 Apr 2009).

Barrie Rutter's Northern Broadsides production marks Henry's Shakespeare debut - the comedian had previously admitted to being "allergic to Shakespeare" - and received a warm critical reception when it premiered at the West Yorkshire Playhouse back in February (See Review Round-up, 19 Feb 2009).

The male parts are cast from members of Broadsides’ long-serving ensemble.

It's presented in the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions, and continues until 12 December 2009.
