1st Night Photos: EastEnders Reunited at Carrie's

Date: 25 June 2009

There was something of an EastEnders reunion at the opening of Carrie's War last night (25 June 2009, previews from 18 June), with Shane Richie, Jake Wood and Alex Ferns among those who turned out to support their former co-star Kacey Ainsworth (known to millions for her role in the BBC soap as Little Mo), who stars alongside Prunella Scales in the wartime drama at the Apollo Theatre.

The play, which is timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the beginning of World War II on 3 September, is an adaptation of Nina Bawden’s best-selling 1973 novel based on her own childhood experiences as an evacuee in Wales during the War.

The Novel Theatre production of Carrie's War premiered in 2006 at the Lilian Baylis Theatre at Sadler’s Wells. Adaptor Emma Reeves’ previous credits include the Novel adaptation of Louise May Alcott’s Little Women, which had a West End run at the Duchess Theatre in 2004.

It continues at the Apollo to 12 September 2009.
