1st Night Photos: New Sondheim Show Gets on the Road

Date: 7 July 2011

The Menier Chocolate Factory continued its association with American composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim with last night’s long-awaited European premiere of Sondheim’s latest musical Road Show, which was attended by guests including Elaine Paige and Tim McInnerney. The production - directed by Briton John Doyle, who previously helmed the same musical at New York’s Public Theater in 2008 – continues at the 150-seater in Borough from until 18 September 2011 (following previews from 24 June), with a cast led by David Bedella and Michael Jibson, as real-life fortune hunters Wilson and Addison Mizner, Jon Robyns and Gillian Bevan.

They’re joined in the company by Adrian der Gregorian, Fiona Dunn, Sarah Ingram, Julie Jupp, Glyn Kerslake, Elizabeth Marsh, Christopher Ragland and Robbie Scotcher. The production has musical supervision and direction by Catherine Jayes, costumes by Matthew Wright, lighting by Jane Cox and sound by Gareth Owen.
