ABOUT THE PLAYS:

THE CHING ROOM/THE MOIRA MONOLOGUES

The Royal Exchange are delighted to announce that Critically-acclaimed author and performer Alan Bissett brings a double bill of hilarious short plays to The Studio at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre from Wednesday 6 October to Saturday 25 October 2010. And we have five pairs of tickets to give away for opening night!

These two sharply contrasting and darkly comic short plays include The Ching Room – a fast-paced battle of wills performed as a double hander by Colin McCredie and Martin McCormick – and the hilariously heart-warming The Moira Monologues performed by Alan Bissett.

The Ching Room sees geeky Rory rushing to a toilet cubicle in a Glasgow nightclub only to find it occupied by the euphoric cocaine-induced drug dealer Darren. As Rory finds gets further out of his depth he is introduced to the mysterious Boss Ching. What ensues is an evening of life and death decisions that will change Rory’s mind-set forever.

In The Moira Monologues the audience meets Moira Bell – the hardest woman in Falkirk – listening in on her bizarre tales with best pal Babs. Whether defending her 'snookelums pookelums' from the local rottweiler, attempting to seduce a teacher in the school where she works as a cleaner, or belting out Diana Ross for the Scotia karaoke night, Moira is hilarious and heart-warming company.
