Punchdrunk Presents Night Chauffeur to Launch Stella Artois Black

Last week saw the press launch of The Night Chauffeur, a piece of promenade theatre created by Punchdrunk in collaboration with Stella Artois to launch the company’s new lager, Stella Artois Black. It took place at The Peasant in Clerkenwell, a
beautiful old boozer transformed into a 1960s Parisian nightspot, complete with
jazz band. Customers buying the new beer in 10 participating London bars are given the chance to win tickets to the 100 or so 15-minute performances taking place at each bar from 14 to 25 November.

‘Passengers’ are welcomed by glamourously dressed and perfectly
pouting ‘femme fatale’ hostesses and invited to make themselves comfortable
before the arrival of the eponymous chauffeur with his purring 1960s Citroen DS. The storyline and setting are intended to evoke the
nostalgia of classic French cinema, with four different narrative strands on offer. The idea is that ‘passengers’ then trade experiences back in the bar after their journey.

Here’s to Punchdrunk for bringing a little drama to the everyday act of
ordering a beer.
