Five Reasons to See … Re:Definition

Part of CREATE10 and Young London: Into Music, Re:Definition explores East London’s rich past, present and exciting future through the eyes of its homegrown talent, the UD Vocal Collective, supported by some top names in urban music: Shola Ama, Omar, Ghetts, Maxsta, Bongo Man of Crazy Cousinz, Miss D, Devlin, and pioneers of the grime generation, NY and Lioness. 

Narrated by Mikill Pane and directed by Matthew “Excalibah” Xia, the UD Vocal Collective and guests will perform an original musical score at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 22 and 23 July 2010.
 

1. An incredible line up of artists including black British pioneers Omar and Shola Ama as well as London’s finest and most fantastic up and coming urban stars: Maxsta, Ghetts, Ny, Maverick Sabre, Crazy Couzins, Devlin, Fumin, Versatile, Dayo aka Miss D and Shezar.

2. True stories from loves and conflicts to the traditions, adventures and aspirations of the real East Enders – all gathered under one roof in a Victorian theatre in the heart of the Olympic Redevelopment

3. With visuals by award winning video artist Mox, and an incredible live band with DJ Wonder at the helm this will be a truly unique music experience,   fusing performance and multimedia in a breath-taking live concept album.

4. The UD Vocal Collective, a 30 piece Urban Choir, will  take you on a whistle-stop tour through the sights and sounds of the place they all call home. Think barbershops, backstreets and bus routes. UD VC will also treat you to a show stopping 15 minute medley of the biggest and best urban songs of the last 25 years!

5. The show will be narrated by Hackney’s very own wide boy Mikill Pane and directed by Matthew ‘Excalibah’ Xia a former 1Xtra Presenter who’s last show was a modern opera!
