Five Reasons to See … The Container
Opening at the Young Vic this week (16 July), The Container is an experiential theatre piece directed by Tom Wright in an actual storage container. Here, the company give us five reasons to ignore our claustrophobic tendencies and go…
1). If you’re a fan of immersive theatre, this is your show. If you saw Punchdrunk’s Tunnel 228 under Waterloo Station, Cardboard Citizens’ Mincemeat in an air-raid shelter, then add The Container to your portfolio, and experience the cramped conditions in a sealed container.
2). You will be among a lucky few who see the production; only 28 audience members per performance, and only 750 for the entire run!
3). See the show that had everybody talking in Edinburgh two years ago, for a limited run only.
4). The Container is in association with Amnesty International, and is dedicated to raising awareness about the plight of refugees and the perils of people trafficking.
5). The production only lasts for an hour, enabling you to experience the horror and danger involved in being an illegal immigrant, and still get home in time for evening television.
