Evans has Fourteen Minutes to Save the World at Soho

Award-winning director Nathan Evans returns to London with his play, I Love You But We Only Have Fourteen Minutes To Save the Earth, which runs at the Soho Theatre from 4 to 7 July.

After previews at Ovalhouse and the Arts Council’s Decibel showcase last year, the play will now run at Soho Theatre Downstairs before visiting Latitude Festival in Suffolk.

I Love You But We Only Have Fourteen Minutes To Save the Earth features a series of performances each fourteen minutes long.

Evans describes his inspiration: “I came up with the idea for this project when I discovered the TED Talks, which challenge the world’s ‘inspired thinkers’ give the ‘talk of their lives’ in 18 minutes. I was seeking a way to give artists a guiding time frame and concept to produce a performance when Dale Arden’s voice popped into my head hollering ‘Flash! I love you but we only have fourteen hours to save the earth!’ and I had it…”

The production explores subjects such as ecology, spirituality and politics with a “nice dose of humour and glamour”. The cast features ‘avant guardian angel’ David Hoyle; Fancy Chance, the reigning ‘alternative Miss World’; and ‘eco worrier extroadinaire’, Timerblina. Additionally, short films by Bette Bourne and Kate Pelling will be showcased.
