Last Chance to See Low Life and Hysteria at BAC

Low Life at BACLow Life (7-14 March)
and
Hysteria (16-21 March)
BAC

The Shows:

BAC are offering audiences one last chance to catch two classic BAC shows. Both Hysteria and Low Life began life at BAC as part of the Scratch programme, came to fruition through the Ladder of Development and went on to achieve huge success internationally, achieving critical acclaim and winning awards and nominations.

Puppetry innovators Blind Summit return with an entirely reworked production of Low Life and a brand new cast. Inspired by the short stories and poems of Charles Bukowski, whose writing chronicled the lives of the poor in 20th Century America, the action takes place in the Low Life Cabaret, where puppets live alongside people.

Blind Summit are also currently performing in Complicite’s Shun Kin and preparing for His Dark Materials at the Birmingham Rep.

Inspector Sands’ Hysteria has been a hit with audiences and critics in the UK and around the world, selling out performances at the London International Mime Festival, Edinburgh Festival, on two British tours and at venues in Russia, Germany, Romania and Armenia. It was the winner of the Total Theatre Award and was short-listed for the Carol Tambor Award at Edinburgh Festival in 2006, and won an Argus Angel Award at Brighton Festival, 2007.

Inspired by T.S. Eliot’s poem of the same name, Hysteria recounts the story of a first date from hell, in a play about panic, the apocalypse and table manners. Bursting with irreverent humour, visceral sound and lighting and a vivid physical style, Hysteria draws the audience into an arresting world where the main course is a fight for survival and a banana can reduce you to tears.
