starstarstarstarstarWe had a wonderful time and our daughter was amazed, dazzled and utterly engrossed! Just what we wanted. Well done to the whole cast who seemed to be having a ball!!! Faultless, charming and a real treat! - Russ Withers03 Jan 13
starstarstarA traditional pantomime it was. I was very impressed with Fairy Bowbells and Winkle, who kept us entertained all the way through and I thought King Rat was suitably evil. I felt slightly disappointed in the rest of the cast s they seemed a little lacklustre and the singing was stilted a little by very loud music. Maybe this could have been made better by a stronger script but all in all an OK time was had by all - flowerybun01 Jan 13
starstarstarstarstarI can only assume that messrs Watson and Colin were not in attendance during the afternoon I took my 7 year old grand daughter to view Dick Whittington at the theatre Royal, it was truly magnificent. Yes the story is a little odd but it is designed to entertain the kids and from my vantage point it achieved that and more. If Biggins appears tired I only wish I could be such. His energy, his desire to entertain coupled to those of his fellow actors can but only serve to bring a smile to all from the younger generation and certainly most of those of us that carry a wrinkle or two. As a grand pa the annual visitation to pantomimes is not high on the list of must do's . That said I would travel many a mile to enjoy the output of the players at the Theatre Royal were they to reproduce a production that caused all within my range of hearing to comment " what a great panto" It surely was, just ask not Watson and Colin but the kids on exciting the theatre door. - David Dowell31 Dec 12
starstarA slightly confusing storyline when it should have been simple. Christopher Biggins did seem a little tired and uninterested and the whole show had very little in the way of 'sparkle' to keep you interested. If my 9 and 12 year old can't be bothered to cheer or shout then it's a good indication that something's missing. Sadly, many people were putting their coats on and leaving halfway through. King Rat was the best thing out there. He gave it some uumph where others just barely made it above a squeek. - Mike Watson24 Dec 12
starstarNot a great production. There were some very funny bits, over the heads of children, the underwater scene was good. The rest was mediocre, and if I was a child then maybe it was boring. The cast did well with what they had to work with, but it all seamed laboured. - colin21 Dec 12
