Dickens' The Haunting To Chill Cheltenham

Dickens' The Haunting To Chill Cheltenham

Date: 22 October 2010

Paul Nicholas and Sean Maguire star in Charles DickensThe Haunting at the Everyman, Cheltenham.

Adapted for the stage by Hugh Janes, this is a brand new play based on some of Dickens’ most spine-tingling ghost stories. The audience will be taken on a journey to the very edge of terror.

In an ancient, crumbling mansion, sheltering from the howling winds that tear across the surrounding desolate moorland, two men stumble across a dark and terrifying secret that will change their lives forever...

When a young book dealer, David Filde, is employed by a former associate of his uncle to catalogue an impressive library, he finds an incredible array of rare and antiquated books. But as a series of strange and unexplained events conspire to keep Filde from his work, he realises that if he is to convince his sceptical employer that the mysterious phenomena he is experiencing are real, they must journey together to the very edge of terror and beyond, to discover the source of the ghostly night-time visitations...

Sean Maguire returns to the UK stage after building a hugely successful film and television career in America, which saw his movie Meet The Spartans hit the number 1 spot in the US box office charts. Having started his career in BBCs Grange Hill, Sean is best known for his high profile roles in EastEnders the BBC drama Dangerfield. Paul Nicholas’ will be forever remembered for his BAFTA nominated role as Vince Pinner in the classic sitcom Just Good Friends, but has had a long and varied career on stage, with lead roles in classic productions including Barnum; Cats; The Mysterious Mr Love and Catch Me If You Can. He has also produced and starred in the hit musical Singin’ In The Rain.

The Haunting runs at The Everyman from 8 - 13 November.
