Full casting announced for Cattrall-led Cleopatra at Chichester

Date: 10 August 2012

Full casting has been announced for Antony and Cleopatra, which runs in the Chichester Festival Theatre from 14 to 29 September (previews from 7 September) as part of the venue's 50th anniversary season.

As previously announced, Kim Cattrall will revisit the role of Cleopatra (which she played in Liverpool in 2010) in Janet Suzman’s production. Cattrall, whose recent stage credits include Private Lives in the West End, will star alongside veteran Shakespearean actor Michael Pennington.

They’ll be joined in the cast by Ian Hogg as Enobarbus and Martin Hutson as Octavius Ceasar, reprising the role he played in 2010 at Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse.

The cast also features: Jack Bannell, Terry Doe, Ruth Everett, Chris Garner, Mark Gillis, Simon Hepworth, Martin Herdman, Oliver Hoare, Harmage Singh Kalirai, Aïcha Kossoko, Pepter Lunkuse, Cornelius Macarthy, Offue Okegbe, Barnaby Sax, Ken Shorter and Mark Sutherland.

The production, which rounds off the summer season in the Festival Theatre, marks the continuation of Sex and the City star Cattrall’s association with the British stage. Besides Private Lives her other credits include The Cryptogram (Donmar Warehouse) and Whose Life is it Anyway? (West End).

Antony and Cleopatra is designed by Peter McKintosh, whose other Chichester credits include Festival 2012’s Uncle Vanya, Love Story (which later transferred to the West End), The Scarlet Letter, Just So and Pal Joey. Lighting design is by Paul Pyant with sound by Sebastian Frost (who received the first ever Tony Award for Sound Design of a Musical for Sunday in the Park with George on Broadway). The composer is Corin Buckeridge.
