Norman Conquests in Sheringham this summerDate: 25 June 2012 Two of the three connected yet stand-alone plays which make up Alan Ayckbourn’s Norman Conquests launch the 2012 summer theatre season at Sheringham’s Little Theatre. They run in repertoire between 5 July (when Table Manners opens) and 4 August with the chance to see both plays in one day on 28 July and 4 August (Round and Round the Garden opens on 18 July). Richard Earl stars as Norman and Helen Leblique directs. From 7 to 16 August, aKen Whitmore adaptation of The Turn of the Screw by Henry James directed by Clare Goddard darkens the mood, but it is then enlivened by a pair of classic farces – Robin Hawdon’s Birthday Suite (directed by Simon Thompson) and Marc Camoletti’s Ding Dong (directed by Peter Craze). The first runs between 18 and 28 August while the second closes the season from 30 August to 8 September. Theatre director Debbie Thompson sees the opening productions in particular as a contribution to the Cultural Olympiad and a nod to London 2012.”It’s a challenge”, she agrees, “but all these plays should offer something for everyone”. - by Anne Morley-Priestman Related ContentBack to Southeast Homepage
