Lighthouse to Cranford

Lighthouse to Cranford

Date: 22 October 2010

Ian Dickens Productions return to Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts in November with the classic Victorian drama Cranford.

This witty and poignant comedy of early Victorian life in the genteel English country market town of Cranford was made popular by the recent hit BBC television adaptation. This stage production boasts a well-known cast, including iconic film and television actress Shirley Anne Field; Kirsten Cooke (Allo,'Allo’s “Michelle of the Resistence”); Linda Armstrong (The Royal); Ben Roberts (ITV1s The Bill; respected film, stage and television actress Hildegard Neil; Grange Hill’s Karen Ford and award nominated actor Jake Hendriks who played Father Kieron Hobbs in C4s Hollyoaks.

Inhabited largely by women the community thrives on cooperation and gossip. The domestic peace is constantly threatened by financial disaster, long-lost relatives, imagined burglaries, births and marriages. The non-stop liveliness of the irresistible characters and their domestic adventures, absurdities and tragedies will capture the audience’s hearts all over again.

Cranford appears at Lighthouse, Poole's Centre for the Arts 9 - 13 November 2010 as part of a UK tour.
