Big Hair Day for NorwichDate: 12 June 2010 The West End musical comedy smash-hit Hairspray is on course to be another record-breaker for Norwich Theatre Royal, where it plays between 1 and 12 February next year. On the first day tickets went on sale a total of 1,068 seats were sold in 24 hours. A further 469 tickets have been sold through priority bookings, making a total of 1,537 tickets have already been snapped up – which is enough to fill the theatre one-and-a-quarter times.
Hairspray has been a huge success as it follows the story of Tracy Turnblad as she sets out to follow her dreams of stardom, inspire her mum and win the man she loves. The cast is headed by the well-known television actor Michael Starke, former Monkee Mickey Dolenz and Liam Doyle who shot to fame when he won the role of Troy Bolton in High School Musical Two.
