Opening: Dusting, NTS Pan, Python's Spamalot & Rocky

Amongst the major openings in Scotland over the next month are:



OPENING 07 JUNE 2010, Glasgow’s King's Theatre plays host to Dirty Dusting, a comedy about three 70-something hard-working cleaners who are facing the axe. They are past their best, beyond their sell-by-date and over the hill but they certainly won’t take their redundancy lying down. These game 'girls' set up a phone-sex service 'The Telephone Belles' and that’s when the fun really begins. The cast includes Barbara Rafferty, Gwyneth Guthrie, Janet Michael and Sean Scanlan. The season continues until 12 June 2010.

OPENING 08 JUNE 2010, The National Theatre of Scotland presents JM Barrie's Peter Pan in a new version by David Greig at Edinburgh's Festival Theatre. Directed by Olivier Award-winning John Tiffany (Black Watch) and written by multi award-winning Scottish playwright David Greig (Midsummer, Yellow Moon) this Peter Pan reimagines the Darling family in Victorian Edinburgh with all its mists, gaslamps, bridges and mystery. The season continues until 12 June 2010. The tour continues to HMT in Aberdeen.

OPENING 14 JUNE 2010, Monty Python musical Spamalot by Eric Idle and John Du Prez reaches Scotland after winning the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005. Playing at Glasgow's King's Theatre, the show tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table featuring the songs He Is Not Dead Yet, and Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life. Marcus Brigstocke as King Arthur and Todd Carty as Patsy lead the cast. The season continues until 19 June 2010, and the tour continues to Aberdeen's HMT in August and the Edinburgh Playhouse in October.

OPENING 21 JUNE 2010, Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Show arrives at the Edinburgh Playhouse. Follow squeaky-clean sweethearts Brad and Janet on an adventure they’ll never forget, with the scandalous Frank ‘n Furter, rippling Rocky and vivacious Magenta. Classic songs include Sweet Transvestite, Damn it Janet, and of course, the pelvic-thrusting Time Warp. The show stars Scottish actor and comedian Gerard Kelly as the narrator. The season continues until 26 June 2010.



OPENING 22 JUNE 2010, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! reaches the King's Theatre, Glasgow. The show stars Marti Webb as Aunt Eller and Mark Evans as Curly and is set on America's Western Frontier, against a background of conflict between farmers and cattlemen. Songs include Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin', The Surrey with The Fringe on Top, Many a New Day, I Can't Say No as well as the title song. Performances continue until 26 June 2010.
