When Harry Met Sally
When Harry Met Sally

Opening: Stepping, Packer's Betrayed & When Harry

Date: 1 May 2010

Amongst the major openings in Scotland over the next month are:

OPENING 04 MAY 2010, Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre plays host to Stepping Out, the comedy by Richard Harris. In a dusty church hall, ex-professional dancer Mavis Turner holds her weekly tap class with a well-intentioned but not overly talented troupe. The cast includes Coronation Street's Brian Capron and Carry On Doctor's Anita Harris.  The season continues until 08 May 2010.

OPENING 7 MAY 2010, The UK premiere of George Packer's Betrayed is presented by the Tron Theatre Company at their Glasgow base. In 2007, the US journalist George Packer published an article in The New Yorker about Iraqi interpreters who jeopardized their lives on behalf of the Americans in Iraq, with little or no U.S. protection or security. The article drew national attention to the humanitarian crisis and moral scandal. The season continues until 14 May 2010.

OPENING 13 MAY 2010, Edinburgh’s Lyceum Theatre plays host to Blue Hen, a gritty, moving story about two ordinary guys who are out of work, out of patience and out of luck when they hit on a scheme to keep themselves occupied and their bellies full. They're going to rear chickens out the back green. Starring Charlie Lawson (Coronation Street’s Jim McDonald). The season continues until 15 May 2010.

OPENING 14 MAY 2010, Cole Porter and [Bella & Samuel Spewak]'s Kiss Me Kate open the Summer season at Pitlochry's Festival Theatre. Baltimore, 1948: after a string of flops, actor-manager Fred Graham desperately needs his new musical adaptation of The Taming Of The Shrew to be a hit. But while Fred’s opinion of his own talents is sky-high, he knows only one thing can guarantee success: a great, big star. Unfortunately, the only star Fred knows is Lilli Vanessi, legendary diva, Hollywood icon . . . and his ex-wife. Performed by a cast of actor-musicians. The season continues until 13 October 2010.

OPENING 17 MAY 2010, Yet another Coronation Street star - Rupert Hill - comes to Scotland. Hill joins [Sarah Jayne Dunn] from Hollyoaks in a stage adaptation of the cinematic comedy hit When Harry Met Sally.  Featuring music by Ben Cullum and Jamie Cullum, it is the hilarious tale of two New Yorkers, who take a dozen years to answer their burning question – can a man and a woman sleep together and still be friends? Performances continue until 22 May 2010.

The tour continues to Eden Court in Inverness and Edinburgh's Festival Theatre.
