Opening: Off Kilter Tour, Stomp, Price & Prejudice

Amongst the major openings in Scotland over the next month are:

OPENING 06 JANUARY 2010, the World’s most famous New Year party - Edinburgh’s Hogmanay – reaches Glasgow’s Theatre Royal with the highlight of this year’s festivities. Off Kilter is a “feisty and fabulous celebration of dance styles alive and kicking in Scotland today, choreographed to an exhilarating soundtrack featuring the very best in Scottish music”. The season continues until 09 January 2010. It also tours to the Perth Theatre and His Majesty’s in Aberdeen over the course of the month.

OPENING 12 JANUARY 2010, Stomp – the British theatrical sensation that has become a truly global phenomenon - comes to Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre. With brand new routines, new choreography and new music Stomp is now “fresher, faster and funnier than ever.” With its unique combination of theatre, dance, comedy and percussion eight performers use boots, bins, brooms and everything including the kitchen sink to hammer out an explosively feel good rhythm. The season continues until 17 January 2010.

OPENING 15 JANUARY 2010, John Dove directs Arthur Miller’s The Price at Edinburgh’s Lyceum. A classic from the pen of the 20th century’s leading playwright, the show is a pithy, funny and deeply moving story of two brothers reunited after many years to sort through the belongings of their long dead father. The cast includes Greg Powrie, Aden Gillett, Sally Edwards and James Hayes. The season continues until 13 February 2010.
 
OPENING 18 JANUARY 2010, TV actress Susan Hampshire stars as the foolish and marriage-obsessed Mrs Bennet in a stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel Pride And Prejudice. His Majesty’s in Aberdeen is the show’s sole stop in Scotland as part of a national tour. Austen’s story of the five Bennet sisters and their relentless pursuit of suitable husbands has been adapted by Simon Reade; Toby Frow directs. Performances continue until 23 January 2010.

OPENING 19 JANUARY 2010, the Chinese State Circus return to Glasgow’s King’s Theatre with an “action-packed spectacular, combining the agility and precision of the world’s greatest acrobats, including the exquisite grace of the Wu-Shu Flying Warriors, and the spine-tingling sounds of the renowned Peking Opera”. Performances continue until Sunday 24 January 2010.
